A Course with a View
The 3,132- yard course features bent grass greens, tees and fairways that still reflect the original design of renowned golf course architect Donald Ross. Originally constructed in 1921 in a 6-hole temporary design, the course has undergone many improvements to reach its current state. The Athens Country Club has installed dozens pine trees, attractive landscaping and new ponds that enhance any golfing experience. However, this course will still challenge even the best golfer's skills.
All greens, tees and fairways are watered from nearby lakes, through an automated irrigation system. Most greens are surrounded by two or three sand traps, and the natural terrain will allow you to enjoy the splendid Athens County backdrop.
To further assist you, the Athens Country Club Golf Pro, Greg Moore, has many years of golf experience. Golf lessons and specialized clinics are available for the entire family. Lockers, golf club cleaning and repair, bag storage, a driving range, putting green and golf carts are all available for your golfing pleasure. Finally, with a golf shop situated in the lower level of the clubhouse that features a variety of the latest golf equipment and accessories as well as a full line of men's and women's apparel, members can easily satisfy all of their golfing needs.
Clubhouse
The original clubhouse reflected the country club concept popular at the time it was built, and featured a large porch and ballroom. The loss of the old clubhouse in a fire in 1983 was a watermark in the Athens Country Club's history. Although memories and memorabilia were indeed lost, the spirit of the club survived to make it an even better place for its members and the community of Athens.
To compliment the rich wooded setting, a beautiful new clubhouse was built in a contemporary design. Today's clubhouse, which features a natural wood exterior and sits atop a hill overlooking the course, blends pleasantly with its countryside setting.
The clubhouse serves as the center of club activities, and offers something for every member of the family. The lounge, featuring a big screen TV, makes even rainy days enjoyable at the club. Or you can relax with your favorite drink and watch golfers finish up on the 9th hole from the clubhouse's panoramic windows. Finally, with fine dining available in both a formal and casual atmosphere, the clubhouse is a perfect destination for any occasion.

We are proud to offer our members a beautiful view, quality food and premier service, all with a touch of class.
